Association of hyperuricemia and metabolic syndrome in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Dakar

The association between hyperuricemia and metabolic syndrome (MS) has been reported in many studies. authors performed this cross-sectional study to determine the MS among diabetic patients Dakar. Type 2 received as part of their follow-up at Marc Sankalé Center Abass Ndao Hospital Dakar were enrolled. For each patient, blood samples 24 h urine collection performed. Hyperuricemia was defined for uric acid concentrations > 416 µmol/l men 357 women evaluated according WHO criteria. Statistical analysis done using XLSTAT 2019 software. A total 153 type included with an average age 56.63 years. Thirty-one percent (31%) had 32% them hyperuricemia. Significant correlations found serum some components including triglyceride levels (r = 0.25, p 0.002), microalbuminuria 0.19, 0.018), fasting glucose - 0.22, 0.005). that is frequent could be considered a biomarker associated presence syndrome.   Key words: Hyperuricemia, syndrome, diabetes, acid.
